Description:
Hone your woodcarving skills in this comprehensive workshop designed for any level of experience. Participants will learn safe and effective carving techniques used to create a finished handheld comfort bird made of pine. Master woodcarver, Leo Hein, will demonstrate tool safety, tool maintenance, and guide participants through the carving process using their own tools. This is a great opportunity to learn the natural characteristics of wood from a seasoned master woodworker.

Instructor Bio:
Leo Hein is a master woodcarver and current president of the CT Woodcarvers Association. He began woodcarving at age 4, learning the craft from his mother. As a child, he would carve his own toys including birds, bow and arrows, and ducks. Leo joined the military following high school graduation and later worked in house restoration, engineering, and sign making. He continued to work in restoration for the Carousel Museum & Bushnell Park Museum. Leo has exhibited his work internationally and recently participated in the Big Ink Print Festival at Five Points Arts.
All workshops are held at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive
Workshops may be cancelled due to low enrollment if a minimum number of participants are not met. Registrants will be notified in advance and a refund or credit will be arranged (see workshop polices below for details).
