Description:
Hone your observational skills and create a landscape painting outside on the grounds of the Five Points Arts Center. Open to all levels of experience, learn to capture natural light as it moves throughout the day. Explore color, value, and paint application techniques to enhance your composition and incorporate personal expression.
Materials:
Oil or acrylic paint
Oil painters, please bring odorless mineral spirits or Gamsol
French easel or outdoor easel
Any size canvas is appropriate (12x16" to 16x20" recommended)
Assortment of brushes in different sizes (flat and round brushes recommended)
Bug spray (unscented or low scented)
Water bottle
Instructor Bio:
Mike considers himself a true and traditional painter who loves the natural world and its possibilities for expression. He has been drawing and painting since childhood, primarily using oil paints in the Plein-air tradition. Some of the areas of focus for Mike are the Farmington Valley area of Central Connecticut as well as regular and productive painting trips to Cape Cod and Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Mike has exhibited in venues across Connecticut and beyond, including art galleries, art associations, and libraries.
All workshops are held at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive
Workshops may be cancelled due to low enrollment if a minimum number of participants are not met. Registrants will be notified in advance and a refund or credit will be arranged (see workshop polices below for details).
