Description:

Transform your imagery and photographs into mixed media collages using image transfer techniques. Open to all levels of experience, this workshop will focus on experimentation, composition, and image layering. The instructor will demonstrate image transfer techniques using contact paper, GOLDEN Soft Gel Gloss, and both color and black and white laser jet printed images which can be implemented on wood, paper, and canvas. Bring a variety of laser jet printed images to use to create one or more finished pieces.

 

Materials:

Provided by the Five Points Arts:

  • Trays, strainers, brushes, paper folders, rubber ribs, paper towels, dishwashing soap, scissors, GOLDEN Soft Gel Gloss 

 

Provided by the Participant:

  • Laser jet copies of photos or artwork you wish to use. Only laser jet copies will work, and size should be limited to 5x7"

  • Participants may supply their own mixed media paper and contact paper or purchase some from the instructor. 

  • Optional: wood panel or canvas board

 

Provided by the instructor for $15 materials fee (to be paid to the instructor):

  • Contact paper

  • Mixed media paper

 

Instructor Bio:

Karen Tiber Leland is the founder of Sterling Marketing Group, a boutique branding agency. Her clients include American Express, Google, LinkedIn, and Johnson and Johnson. She is a frequent workshop leader on innovation, design, and brand and has presented for TEDx, Yale, Harvard, Apple, and The American Marketing Association. In addition to her work in the business world, Karen's mixed media paintings, prints, and photographic transfer mixed media images have been shown in the Sausalito Art Festival, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, The American Craft Council Show, and the Celebration of Craftswomen.
