Description:
Designed for beginners as well as those looking to refresh their skills, this workshop will introduce painting techniques in oils and acrylics. Participants can choose to paint with acrylics, oils, or both. Learn the elements of composition and utilize them to create successful landscape paintings. Each week, you will create a new painting and develop your skills and confidence in color mixing, blending, and shading.
Materials:
Provided by Participants:
Four 11x14" canvas boards or stretched canvases
12-color set of acrylic or oil paints
If working in acrylics: container to hold water
If working in oils: odorless turpentine/mineral spirits and closed container
One set of basic paint brushes – flat tip
One set of basic paint brushes – round tip
(You may find all brushes combined in one set)
Provided by Five Points:
Supplementary brushes and contatiners.
Paper towels, easels, and palettes.
Instructor Bio:
Janet is an award-winning landscape artist. She has been plein air painting (on location) and studio painting for the past 15 years. She has taken classes and workshops from nationally prominent artists, including Douglas David and Mark Boedges, as well as attending Plein Air Conventions in Santa Fe, NM. Janet was born in Connecticut and has been a lifelong artist here, as well as spending winters painting in Naples, Florida.
The subjects of Janet’s paintings feature the CT rural countryside, farms and homes complimented by scenes of shoreline. She enjoys plein air painting on small canvases and creating larger paintings in her studio. Originally painting in acrylic, Janet now paints exclusively with oils. She has been honored with numerous show awards, and has been on the cover of Litchfield Hills Magazine. She is represented by Center Framing & Art, West Hartford, CT and High Tide Gallery, Naples, FL. She is a member of Housatonic Valley Art Association, Great Barrington, MA and Naples Art Association, Naples, FL. She also paints homes and farms on commission to preserve family memories. Janet teaches studio and plein air classes, as well as private classes giving new artists the confidence to create beautiful paintings using her techniques.
