Welcome to the 2024 Summer Teen Art Labs! Designed to provide a dedicated arts program for teens, Five Points Arts is offering four workshops in Photography, Ceramics, Painting & Drawing, and Printmaking. This program will focus on developing skills in a variety of disciplines with a focus on creative problem solving and portfolio building. Each workshop will meet once per week from 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm for six weeks. Attendees can register for any and all of the four workshops. Sign-up will be on a first come first serve basis. There are a limited number of spaces available, so early Registration is encouraged.
After registering for the workshop, parents must complete a consent form for each registered child, which may be returned by email to ssamele@fivepointsarts.org or mailed to the Five Points Arts Center (855 University Drive, Torrington CT 06790)

Workshop Descriptions
Photography
Learn and develop the skills to create with alternative photography and digital photography processes. The instructor will demonstrate how to photograph different subject matter, use lighting, and build compositions to manipulate imagery. From creating digital negatives to developing images in the darkroom, attendees will experience photography in a whole new light.

Ceramics
Explore the world of clay in this 6-week intensive ceramics workshop. Attendees will design both functional and nonfunctional work with a focus on learning the fundamental aspects of hand-building to wheel throwing. Learn how the elements of art work together. The Instructor will demonstrate ways to create surface design, trimming techniques, and primary glazing.

Painting & Drawing
Dive into a world of composition, painting, and drawing with a focus on the fundamentals as well as innovative projects and collaboration. Throughout this 6-week workshop, attendees will work with a variety or mark making materials such as charcoal, graphite pencils, acrylic paints, and more. Attendees will learn how to utilize the elements of art to build a portfolio of work.

Printmaking
Fall in love with traditional printmaking this summer in the Robert Dente Printmaking Lab. Learn how to use water-based inks and utilize different printing presses to create impressions on paper and fabric! Experiment with a variety of tools and application techniques to discover new ways of making art.
