Description:
Experience the thrill of wheel throwing in this beginner-level ceramics workshop. Learn how to center clay and throw foundational forms. The instructor will demonstrate each stage of the throwing process and provide individualized guidance. Over the course of this workshop, participants will learn how to throw bowls, yunomi cups, vases, and more. Gain a deeper understanding of the versatility of ceramics and how it can become a vehicle for sculpture, fine art, functional, and nonfuctional objects. All levels of experience are welcome.
Open Studio Time:
Upon approval from the instructor, workshop participants will be granted access to the Ceramics Lab for the duration of the workshop. Aside from scheduled workshop hours, the lab is available for independent use Monday – Saturday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Instructor Bio:
Aaron M. Flynn graduated with a B.F.A. in ceramics in 1995 from University of Hartford, Hartford Art School and earned his M.F.A. at the University of North Texas, Toulouse Graduate School, College of Visual Art and Design in 2015. Aaron works exploring the nature of materials and color; ranging from paint, using appropriated objects bought and found, light, reflection sound, and video. He spends his time considering these materials, the boundaries of painting, and the relationship to his contemporary, interdisciplinary practice. He is part of the Five Points Launchpad Program; he teaches Art History and Ceramics at Post University. He lives in southwestern CT with his two cats, Boobaloo and Mr. Myogi.
