Description:
This workshop will take participants beyond the basics of the cyanotype process through experimentation with non-traditional papers and exploring how a cyanotype changes based on the materials used.
This alternative photography technique is known for its dark blue hue, which can be altered depending on the surface it is printed on. Natural fiber (such as watercolor paper) works best, but cyanotypes can create images on a wide range of mediums including papers, fabric, wood and even glass.
Over the course of the workshop, instructor Dan Baird-Miller will demonstrate his workflow and help participants turn their digital photos into negatives to print from. These will be used to develop images on a variety of non-traditional paper types.
If you are curious about a paper type or surface to print on, participants are welcome to bring in their own supplies or use the different materials provided, and are encouraged to experiment with the results.
Five Points workshops are crafted to provide a comprehensive, yet accessible experience for artists of all levels, meeting individuals wherever they are on their artistic journey.
