Description:
Join us for a weekend of carving and printmaking with Instructor Bethany Chase! For beginner and intermediate printmakers, this linocut workshop will cover the basics of building a composition, carving imagery into linolium, various relief printing techniques, and an introduction to color! Participants will bring in two drawings to work from and gain valuable knowledge on hand printing, press printing, ink mixing, editioning, and archiving their prints.

Materials Provided by Five Points
5 piece Power Grip carving tool set + 1.5 mm v tool
Slip Strope+Honing compound
Printmaking Paper
(2) 6x8 unmounted linoleum
Cotton rags, sharpies, x-acto/box cutters
Laser Printer
Acetone
Odorless mineral spirits
Materials Provided by Participant:
Bring 2 drawings to print
Participants are welcome to bring their own paper to experiment with different printing techniques
If participants have their own prefered carving tools, they are welcome to use those
Instructor Bio:
Bethany Chase grew up in Massachusetts, and currently splits her time between Hartford and Woodstock, CT, where her parents and two rescue basset hounds reside. She is a graduate of the Hartford Art School with a bachelor’s degree in printmaking and is part of the Five Points Launchpad program. She enjoys experimenting with the process involved with making a print, but typically works in relief printmaking and enjoys making groan worthy print-related puns.
