Description:

If you have ever dreamed of reimagining your photographs and other artwork into additional unique pieces– this is the workshop for you. Hands-on and experimental, you will learn how to use contact paper to take color or black-and-white laser jet copies of your original photographs and artwork to create semi-transparent images. These images are suitable for integrating into mixed media works of art on paper, wood, or canvas.

This one-day workshop offers a fun and exciting dive into the creative realm of mixed media and includes the following:

  • A live demonstration of this simple and substantial photo and image transfer technique.
  • An immersive experience as you experiment with the transfer process yourself.
  • Techniques for seamlessly blending your transfer images into mixed media works of art.
  • Creating at least one finished art piece using your transferred image.

All skill levels are welcome, whether you're a novice or a seasoned artist. Pack a lunch, water bottle, and journal to jot down notes, and embrace the spirit of mixed media in your best messy-making attire.

Materials:

Bring laser jet copies of photos or artwork you wish to use, as well as mixed media paper to collage the images onto, and a roll of contact paper for the transfers. If you are inclined, a wood panel or canvas board for an added twist. Only laser jet copies will work, and size should be limited to 5x7.

Materials may be purchased through the instructor at the start of the workshop for a $10-15 materials fee:

  • Contact paper
  • Mixed media paper
