Workshop Description

Students will explore a variety of painting and mixed media techniques as they learn how to express themselves creatively and develop their art. Through demos and individualized instruction, this workshop focuses on using design elements to build drawing skills and personal voice. Working from observation and the imagination, students will experiment with a variety of materials, from paint, to charcoal, to recycled materials and more. All materials are included.

Required Materials

Most materials will be provided by the Art Center, but it’s recommended that students bring the following:

• Sketchbook
• Any drawing or painting materials of your choice
• Suggested:
  • Basic Acrylic paint set
  • Set of brushes
  • Mixed media pad
  • Magazines for collage

The Art Center will provide the following:

• Heavy Paper Sheets (10-20) (18x24”)
• Glue sticks
• Acrylic paint and Tempera
• Basic Paint Brushes
• Small Paint Brushes

Instructor Bio

Christian Crowley is an artist living in Plainville Connecticut. He graduated from the Hartford Art School at University of Hartford in May 2021. His BFA is a double major in painting and sculpture. His art relies on intuition, and noticing the chance occurrences during the process of creating. Through the integration of his own life into art, he creates a deep connection with it. He utilizes any and all materials for his paintings and found objects for his sculptures.
