Description

“What makes a successful composition? This workshop will explore the critical role of composition in painting and drawing, and dive into its often complex relationship with color.

Open to all ages, and no prior artistic experience necessary. Although this class will focus on oil painting and oil painting techniques, students are encouraged to bring any material they feel comfortable with- watercolor, gouache, acrylic, etc.

The workshop will close out with a casual group discussion of the work created in the class. By the end of this course students will have created their own unique work of art and have an increased grasp on the elements of composition.

Bio

I’m a visual artist and musician from Connecticut. I received my BFA from Hartford Art School in 2018 where I studied painting and art history. While at Hartford I received multiple merit-based scholarships, and was the recipient of the 2018 Excellence in Painting Award. My work is highly expressive, and at times oscillates between figuration and abstraction. The mediums I predominantly work with are with are oil paint, acrylic, and collage. What draws me to making art again and again is the freedom involved in creating, and the process of discovery, (both internal and external). There's an element of surprise to painting that I find truly magical. There’s just something about watching things emerge right before your eyes.
