Description

This is a one-day workshop with a limited capacity so early registration is suggested. Chemigrams are made using photo paper, chemistry, and light. This technique predates the invention of photography by over 100 years and combines painterly techniques and photography to make one-of-a-kind, cameraless images. In this workshop, participants will be guided through a variety of approaches to making chemigrams including chemistry application techniques, masking and resists, and incorporating physical objects into their design. The spirit of this workshop is one of exploration and play. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will come away with a selection of their own chemigram prints and a beginning knowledge of the variety of techniques available in the process.

Jessica Somers is a photographer specializing in historic photographic techniques and self-portraiture.

Materials- Please Note!

Five Points Art Center will provide the materials for this workshop, however registration must be confirmed by January 20th, 2023 due to the particular nature of  materials used  in this process.

Weather Cancellation Policy

In the event Five Points Arts cancels a workshop due to an inclement weather forecast every effort will be made to re-schedule the workshop. If the workshop cannot be re-scheduled, or the new date does not accommodate the registrant's schedule, that person will be offered the opportunity to apply the cancelled workshop fee toward a future workshop. If preferred, Five Points will offer a full refund instead of a rescheduling option.Every effort will be made to announce weather related cancellations 24 hours in advance; however, registrants are advised to check their e-mail on the morning of the scheduled workshop for any cancellation message.
