Artists are invited to explore the ancient art of coiled basketry. The art of basket making can be used for the creation of daily utilitarian and decorative forms which could evolve into complex sculptural pieces. Basketry can be a very meditative and calming process; therefore, an energy exercise will also be introduced at the beginning of class. During this workshop participants will be learning the figure eight and mariposa stitch to create a basket 6”x 6" in class.

Simple materials will be used.Yarn, raffia or rope. Rope would be the foundation of the basket. The instructor will supply some of the raffia, however anything special can be purchased by participants. Tapestry needles will be supplied. The Basketry Book is included in the price of the workshop
