Workshop Description

In this two day workshop we will cover color mixing, color matching, color terminology, color temperature, color in composition and the interaction of color.

This is a fun class for people working in all areas of visual arts.  After getting the basics down, working from simple designs you create we will see what we can do with the color knowledge gained from mixing colors.

In day one we will:

  • Create a Color Wheel using double primaries, create Tints and Shades
  • And mix complementary colors.
  • Color Match images from art history

In day two we will cover:

  • Design studies in Hue Value and Intensity
  • Design studies using Color schemes.
  • The interaction of Color

In both classes we will look at examples and slides from art history.  There will be demonstrations given in the beginning of class, time to work on projects with individual help from me and time to share at the end of class.  Color definitions and the history of Color Theory will be introduced.

Extra projects to continue your exploration of color after the workshop will be given.

We will be using specific acrylic paints.  I will send a material list before the classes begin.
