Description:
Discover the magic of combining clay, sunlight, and one of the world's oldest photographic processes. In this hands-on class, you will begin by creating ceramic slab works that will be fired and prepared as your "canvas." Once the clay is ready, you will explore the fascinating cyanotype process, using light sensitive chemistry, botanicals, and found objects to create beautiful Prussian blue images. No prior experience with clay or cyantotype is necessary: just bring your curiosity and creativity! Whether you're a potter, photographer, mixed-media artist, or simply looking to try something new, you will leave with a unique ceramic artwork and the skill to continue exploring this blend or art, science and nature.
*Please note: the varying class times are due to the time needed for pieces to dry, be fired, coated with chemistry etc.
Open Studio Time:
Upon approval from the instructor, workshop participants will be granted access to the lab throughout the duration of the workshop. Aside from scheduled workshop hours, the lab is available for independent use Tuesday – Sunday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
