Description:
Participants will experiment with analog methods for making screenprinting negatives— including stencil making, ink drawing, drawing fluid, and more—as well as considering play during printing itself, in order to achieve dynamic and layered prints. In this workshop, we will also touch on the full screenprinting process including coating screens, burning negatives, registration, color mixing, washing and reclaiming screens, and more. Artists in this workshop are encouraged to work independently, support each other, and take risks.
* Please note: The focus of this workshop is on analog negatives; participants are welcome to bring a digital negative if already printed, but we will not be covering that skill during these sessions.
Open Studio Time:
Upon approval from the instructor, workshop participants will be granted access to the lab throughout the duration of the workshop. Aside from scheduled workshop hours, the lab is available for independent use Tuesday – Sunday from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
