Description:
This two-part workshop is an intensive, hands-on introduction to floor loom weaving, covering the full process from winding a warp to weaving and finishing cloth. On the first day, students will measure and wind two-color warps and dress their looms in preparation to weave. On the second day, students will focus on weaving their project, explore finishing techniques and take their projects home. This workshop is suitable for beginners or those who have some basic weaving experience and want a refresher.
Open Studio Time:
Upon approval from the instructor, workshop participants will be granted access to the lab throughout the duration of the workshop. Aside from scheduled workshop hours, the lab is available for independent use Tuesday – Sunday from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Instructor Bio:
Margaret Liljedahl is a West Hartford–based weaver with over ten years of experience in both fiber arts and community education. Her specialty is historical weaving techniques, and she has had the privilege of working with several historical sites and museums, helping bring their antique barn looms back to life and doing public demonstrations and talks. An active member of the Handweavers Guild of Connecticut, Margaret is passionate about helping people discover their own love of weaving.

All workshops are held at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive
Workshops may be cancelled due to low enrollment if a minimum number of participants are not met. Registrants will be notified in advance and a refund or credit will be arranged (see workshop polices below for details).
