Description:
A drawing starts with a meaningless mark or line. It takes place on a flat sheet of paper (the field of play) and when we begin to see something happen, we are called to the hunt, (what was meaningless now become meaningful). With more marks we create relations, we enter into a dialogue, and what was flat soon becomes a space with depth, (space in the sense of freedom). Participants do not need special skills to take this drawing workshop. Every exercise will be inherently accessible, rooted in our daily experience (what comes naturally) and the focus will be on getting back to basics. Every drawing will ultimately rely on the experiences of each unique individual who is the expert of who they already are. Whatever skills one has acquired before the workshop is where each individual will begin – to enact that mysterious event – that thing that happens when a “drawing comes to life”.
Note: As part of this masterclass, a public lecture entitled "Everything Trembles: Art and Complexity" by Power Boothe will be held at FPAC on November 16, 2025. Find more details here.
