Introduction to Printmaking: Color Relief Printing

Description: 

Learn how to create multi-color prints from a single linoleum block on Five Points Arts Center's new Vandercook Press. Participants will learn reduction relief printing through a step-by-step process. You will develop an image - either an original drawing or a Photoshopped photograph - as the basis for a three-color plus black print. The workshop will cover image preparation, block carving, ink mixing and printing on the Vandercook Press.

Provided by Five Points Arts:

• Canson Edition drawing paper (extra paper may be purchased from instructor for $6 per 20x30" sheet)

Instructor Bio:

Mark Zunino is a Printmaker/Painter who teaches drawing, and printmaking at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT. He received his BFA from the University of Hartford's Hartford Art School and his MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Mark has exhibited his prints and paintings in institutions such as the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Fort Wayne, IN, the Portland Museum of Art, Portland, ME, and Vose Galleries, Boston, MA, as well as in international exhibitions in the Czech Republic, New Zealand, and the UK. His work is in the permanent collection of the Yale Art Gallery, New Haven, CT, DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA and the Hood Art Museum, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, amongst many other public and private collections.

All workshops are held at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive

Workshops may be cancelled due to low enrollment if a minimum number of participants are not met. Registrants will be notified in advance and a refund or credit will be arranged (see workshop polices below for details).
