Description:
Practice using larger brushes, applying more paint, and working faster to loosen up your painting skills and encourage a simplified, gestural approach to your artmaking. Experience a departure from realism and create several paintings with techniques designed to open your mind to new possibilities. All levels of experience are welcome.
Materials:
Several primed canvases of any size. Gesso boards and gessoed heavyweight paper are also acceptable.
Artist brushes of different sizes and house painting brushes (1-2 inches)
Palette knives
Palette
Cotton cloth and an old towel
Oil or acrylic paints
Paint colors: blue, yellow, red and white (150ml tubes suggested)
OPTIONAL paint colors: Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Kings Blue, Cobalt Violet, Ultramarine Violet, Dioxazine Purple, Sap Green, Permanent Green, Naples Yellow, Permalba White, and other colors of your choice.
Oil Painters:
Stand oil or linseed oil
Airtight lidded containers (plastic or glass)
Any additional preferred painting mediums
Windsor Newton Brush Cleaner & Preserver
Acrylic Painters:
Large containers/jars for water

Instructor Bio:
Souby Boski earned her BA in Art Education from Stetson University and a MALS in Art from Wesleyan University. She studied painting with nationally recognized artists: Eric Aho, Ira Barkoff, Lois Dodd and Ruth Miller. Souby Boski worked as an art teacher in the CT public schools and served as Adjunct Professor of Art at Naugatuck Valley Community College. Since 2004, she has been teaching painting classes and workshops at arts education venues all over CT, MA and FL.
All workshops are held at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive
Workshops may be cancelled due to low enrollment if a minimum number of participants are not met. Registrants will be notified in advance and a refund or credit will be arranged (see workshop polices below for details).
