Instructor Bio:
Kathy Cady is a native of northwestern Connecticut. She earned her Master’s degree in Art Education and for thirty years has taught ceramics at the high school and college levels. Her ceramic artwork has focused on pit firing techniques inspired by ancient and classical forms. These creations maintain a fluidity and gracefulness that complement the primitive pit firing process. Kathy also creates tile artwork infused with crystals and melted glass which is inspired by geological formations and the wonders of water. Fabricated metal is often used to enhance her pottery and tile creations. Kathy’s current pottery forms incorporate crystals adorning lidded vessels. New works are frequently triggered by a fascination with crystals and her desire to unite the proportion and balance of those minerals within each pottery form and glaze application.
All workshops are held at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive
Workshops may be cancelled due to low enrollment if a minimum number of participants are not met. Registrants will be notified in advance and a refund or credit will be arranged (see workshop polices below for details).
